DURANGO — Passenger traffic grew at the Durango-La Plata County Airport during the first quarter of 2009.
A report released Monday showed traffic was up 18.5 percent during the first three months of 2009. During March, 11,174 passengers boarded commercial aircraft, up 35 percent from March 2008.
Last year, 136,665 passengers enplaned in Durango, up 18.1 percent from 2007, which was the previous record.
The increase was attributed to expansion of Denver service on United and Frontier airlines, a reduction in fares and a marketing campaign in the Four Corners area.
