Getting your player ready...

After all the snow we’ve had the last week, you’re either in the “I hate it” camp, or in the “I love it” one.

At the end of the day, the extra snow could be good for Colorado, not only when it comes to water supply, but also for mountain tourism.

“Timing couldn’t have been better,” said Jennifer Rudolph, director of communications for Colorado Ski Country USA. “This is really what spring skiing is supposed to be like in Colorado. March is known for being the snowiest month of the year, but I think after the two weeks of April we’ve had, we should maybe switch it to April. It’s been phenomenal, it’s great for spring skiing.”

Aspen and Telluride extended their ski season. Rudolph says others might follow suit.

“The word is out, people are taking advantage. These are unprecedented April snow conditions. It feels like winter,” Rudolph said. Which could eventually translate into additional dollars for the Colorado Ski industry during an uncertain year.

“We didn’t quite know what to expect going into this year, back in October when A-basin and Loveland first opened. And now that we’re seeing the end in sight, we’re quite comfortable with where we are, the industry. So we’ll see what plays out at the end of the year in June when we have our final numbers.”
