GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—As if Colorado needed another sign there aren’t many jobs to go around, a jobs fair in Glenwood Springs has been canceled for lack of potential employers.
Labor officials sent 300 flyers seeking businesses to set up booths at a job fair planned Saturday in this mountain resort town. But only five or six responded, and most of them dropped out. So the fair has been postponed indefinitely.
Labor and employment specialist Kathleen Kline told the Post Independent newspaper that the response was disappointing but that labor office staff would volunteer to open the office Saturday anyway.
Garfield County had an unemployment rate of 6.4 percent in February, up from 5.4 percent in January.
