Six to be inducted into Colorado hall tonight.
Attendees at tonight’s Colorado Sports Hall of Fame’s induction banquet at the City Center Marriott Hotel could wear many hats to be associated with the six members of the Class of 2009.
A Broncos hat would be appropriate to honor wide receiver Rod Smith. Bring out the baseball hats for Jerry McMorris, the first CEO of the Rockies. Colorado State hats should be plentiful for retired football coach Sonny Lubick as well as retired Col. John Mosley, who competed in football at Colorado A&M in 1939 before going on to a distinguished career in the military.
Ralph Backstrom commands several hats in hockey, most notably as coach at the University of Denver and later as the CEO of the Colorado Eagles.
Laurice “Lo” Hunter was an early champion of girls sports in Colorado and became a legend in coaching volleyball at Evergreen High School.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m.
