LONGMONT, Colo.—A 17-year-old boy and girl have received jail time and probation after pleading guilty in a fire that badly damaged a vacant flour mill in downtown Longmont.

The two pleaded guilty to felony criminal mischief last week. In exchange, prosecutors allowed for a one-year deferred adjudication of felony arson for each.

The girl was sentenced to 45 days in jail, while the boy received 40 days. They were both ordered to pay restitution, undergo substance abuse and mental health treatment, and complete two years of intensive-supervision probation.

Police arrested the two shortly after the fire engulfed the 93-year-old Golden West Flour Mill on Feb. 28. Detective Rachael Sloan-Stogsdill testified last month that the girl told her they used her lighter to start the fire and then fed pieces of paper into the flames.
