A 47-year-old Westminster man has been sentenced to 57 years in prison for numerous felony convictions.
William Kelsey Shipp III was sentenced Friday in District Court in Adams County.
Shipp was convicted in January of attempt to commit reckless manslaughter, first-degree assault, aggravated robbery, vehicular eluding and accessory to menacing, all felonies, the Adams County Attorney’s Office said in a media release.
The convictions stem from an Oct. 27, 2006, incident in which Shipp and co-defendant Gregory Evans shot a person in Shipps’ Westminster home.
Shipp and Evans fled the shooting and led sheriff’s deputies on a chase in which Evans fired a gun at pursuing officers, the release said.
During their flight, the two men had commandeered a pickup truck at gunpoint when Shipp was captured. Evans fled in the truck but was eventually nabbed.
Evans was sentenced in June to 53 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, robbery of an at-risk adult and menacing.
