LINCOLN—For more than 20 years, Lucas Guttentag has taken his arguments about immigrants’ rights into courtrooms, classrooms and in front of crowds. Despite talk of immigration reform on the federal level, the director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrant Rights Project is set to make an appearance Saturday in Lincoln to go over a long list of challenges that remain. SEDIMENT
VERMILLION, S.D.—Sediment is considered a problem at Lewis and Clark Lake near Yankton and other points along the Missouri River. But Tim Cowman, director of the Missouri River Institute, says there’s a lack of sediment on the Louisiana Gulf Coast. It’s trapped in the Midwest and needs to build up the Mississippi delta, he said. Eds: Note Nebraska interest.

CAR–OPEN ROAD
SANDERSON, Texas—Once a year, to the delight of speed demons from around the country, a stretch of normally deserted highway becomes a Texas version of the autobahn—a road with no speed limit. And better yet, the traffic cops allow it. They’ve been known to encourage the speeders who sometimes top 160 mph. By Michael Graczyk. Eds: Previously moved in advance.
