Jefferson County investigators think alcohol played a role in the beating death of 38-year-old Nicole Burns on Friday.
Burns’ body was found Friday in an apartment on West Bowles Place near Simms Street. The apartment’s resident, 22-year-old Andrew McClay, was arrested at the residence, taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation then booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
McClay and Burns are described by investigators as a “friends.”
McClay had his first court appearance Monday where he was advised he would face first-degree murder charges. He remains jailed on a $1 million bond.
