LOVELAND, Colo.—A 19-year-old man is in custody following a fatal stabbing at a Loveland park.
Authorities say 34-year-old David Shern was stabbed and killed at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday near the parking lot at North Lake Park.
Sgt. Jan Burreson says Larry Walters Jr. of Loveland was arrested in the slaying early Friday.
Burreson says one of Shern’s friends took Shern to McKee Medical Center after the stabbing and called police to report the incident while en route. Shern was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Walters was arrested at about 5:15 a.m. Friday at a Loveland home. Burreson says witnesses came forward, “and we were able to determine he was a viable suspect.”
He says police are not releasing further details because the investigation is ongoing.
