COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Relatives say a soldier born and raised in Colorado Springs was among three Americans who were killed Friday with two other international troops in Afghanistan.
Military officials have not released names of the victims.
Patricia Pirtle tells Colorado Springs television station KKTV that her 21-year-old son, Sgt. James Pirtle, was among those killed.
He was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas.
Survivors include his parents and two sisters.
