COLORADO SPRINGS — Relatives say a soldier born and raised in Colorado Springs was among three Americans and two foreign soldiers killed Friday by rocket-propelled grenades in Afghanistan.
Military officials have not released names of the victims.
Patricia Pirtle told Colorado Springs television station KKTV that her 21-year-old son, Sgt. James Pirtle, was among those killed.
He was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas.
Survivors include his parents and two sisters.
