STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—A 77-year-old man has died at a Denver hospital after being hit by a pickup truck in Steamboat Springs.

Robert Bear of Steamboat Springs died Wednesday night after being struck that morning while crossing U.S. 40 at Pine Grove Road.

Police say the truck was attempting to turn onto Pine Grove Road and was moving slowly, but Bear was knocked to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He was airlifted to St. Anthony Central hospital in Denver.

An autopsy is planned.

Police Capt. Joel Rae says authorities have not decided if they will file charges against the driver of the pickup, 48-year-old Terry Tomey of Craig.
