A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for breaking into a Greeley home and beating the homeowner.
Jonathan Thompson pleaded guilty April 10 to first-degree burglary with the intent to assault, a class-three felony, according to a media release from the Weld County District Attorney’s Office.
Thompson broke into a Greeley home on Jan. 9 and assaulted a man in an unsuccessful attempt to force the victim to go to an ATM and withdraw money, prosecutors said.
On Jan. 30 police received a tip about Thompson’s whereabouts and he was arrested at his parents’ home.
Thompson was sentenced Tuesday in district court in Greeley.
