DANIA BEACH, Fla. — Rescuers searched the open Atlantic off Florida for more possible survivors or victims Thursday after a boat overloaded with Haitian migrants capsized and sank a day earlier, killing at least nine people.

Sixteen people survived, and it was unclear how many more might be missing, said U.S. Coast Guard Capt. James Fitton. He said authorities think about 28 to 35 people were aboard the boat.
