What’s on your agenda? Here are a few things that’re on mine:
• Members of the National Kidney Foundation Young Professionals gather at Second Home Kitchen and Bar in the JW Marriott Cherry Creek on Thursday for the second in a series of mixers leading up to the 2010 Great Chefs of the West. Jim Guttau, Jenny Salimi, Anne Donley, Dana Berry, Georgia Gallagher, Jill Hodges, Kasia Iwaniczko, Amy Rubin and Tracey Nilson are hosting the 6 p.m. event; sign up at info@ .
Wine and chocolate will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. May 27 when members of the Alzheimer’s Women’s Auxiliary for Research and Education (AWARE) meet in the Meridian Tower lobby, 7600 Landmark Way, Greenwood Village. President Tracey Welch and others will talk about AWARE’s fundraising efforts, including the signature luncheon, Memories Lost & Found. Reservations are a must; they can be phoned to 303-751-6782.
Meet Me in Paris is the theme for the Children’s Museum Birthday Bash, which takes place May 29, rain or shine, on the museum grounds. Dory Pratt and Brooke Simpson are the chairwomen; Mayor John Hickenlooper and Helen Thorpe are the honorary chairs, and entertainment is by the Hazel Miller Band. Call 303-561-0104.
An “Evening of Urban Elegance” is in store May 30 when the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has its 10th anniversary Dream Gala at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center. Don and Jennifer Baldridge have planned an evening that includes entertainment on multiple stages (urban spinmaster DJ Vajra, the Big Wheel Band and Wicked Evolution), martini and tequila bars, dinner and a tribute to Dr. William Wright, executive medical director and president of Colorado Permanente Medical Group. Call 303-770-2873.
Welcome aboard.
The Museum of Contemporary Art/ Denver has developed an enviable reputation for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, and the party to introduce director Adam Lerner was no exception.
Instead of celebrating Cinco de Mayo, a committee headed by Christopher Meza opted for a Seis de Mayo bash that was every bit as festive as any Cinco party we’ve ever seen. Maybe a bit more.
Three Tomatoes did the food, and the shoulder-to- shoulder crowd included Mexico’s consul general for Colorado, Eduardo Arnal, and his wife, Cecilia Ramos; Pauline Herrera; Barclay Jones; Lance Cheslock; Florencia Tinoco; Baltazar Solano Pineda; and Marcela de la Mar.
