COMMERCE CITY — The owner of a small store was fatally shot in the middle of the day Wednesday in Commerce City.

A family member confirmed to media that the victim was Dung Viet Le. Le, 48, is the recorded owner of Dollar Value Plus in a commercial strip mall.

The Adams County coroner’s office is expected to make the official identification today.

A customer found a man shot multiple times on the floor of the store, at 5765 E. 63rd Place, between Holly and Kearney streets, about 1 p.m. and ran to a neighboring coin laundry for help.

Le’s relative Kevin Le told Fox 31, “We need the public’s help to find out who did this to our family.”

Le is survived by a wife and a 5-year-old daughter, Kevin Le said.

“That’s somebody who didn’t deserve to get shot and killed, especially in his own store,” regular customer Steven Jaramillo told 9News.

Neighboring merchants speculated that the crime was a botched robbery and told television reporters they were afraid.

Detectives have not released a description or other information about a potential assailant, or the motive for the shooting.

Commerce City police spokesman Lt. Chuck Saunier said late Wednesday that investigators haven’t confirmed the existence of surveillance video in or near the store.

Anyone with information can call Commerce City police at 303-227-8840.
