A murder warrant has been issued for a 20-year-old man in the death early Friday of a security guard at El Chaparral Night Club.

Heber Santiago Godoy is being sought for investigation of homicide in the death of one security officer and attempted murder in the wounding of a second officer, said Detective Sharon Avendaño, Denver police spokeswoman.

Police on Wednesday arrested David Cano-Rivera, 21, for investigation of accessory to murder in connection with the killing at the club, located at 2727 W. Sixth Ave.

The security guards were shot at 12:54 a.m. as they tried to remove several people from inside the west Denver nightclub. Police have not released the names of the two victims.

Several people had been fighting inside and outside the club. One security guard began to argue with two men when one of them pulled a gun and shot the guard.

The two suspects ran to a dark-colored sports car — possibly a Chevrolet Camaro — and drove away.

As they fled, someone in the sports car fired several more shots, hitting and injuring a second security guard.
