LONGMONT, Colo.—Prosecutors say a Longmont house has become a gang hangout and a breeding ground for crime, and they’re taking steps to close it down.
The Boulder County district attorney’s office took the rare step this week of asking a court to declare the house at 103 St. Clair Ave. a public nuisance.
If a judge agrees, the house could be seized and closed.
A phone listing for the address has been disconnected.
Prosecutors say the house is the scene of assaults, underage drinking, drug use and other crimes, and that neighbors and city workers have been harassed nearby.
The owners have 20 days to respond, and the judge would then weigh their arguments against the district attorney’s. If they don’t respond, the judge could grant the prosecutors’ request.
