Getting your player ready...

Dexter Fowler wanted to play. Carlos Gonzalez needs to play. Fowler sat out with a knot on his right calf, the victim of a foul ball. So Gonzalez made his starting debut as a Rockie, playing center field and batting seventh. He went hitless in his first three at-bats, but made a nice over-the-shoulder catch in the sixth.

From the Rx files.

Catcher Chris Iannetta (right hamstring) will play nine innings again today for the Sky Sox and is expected to rejoin the Rockies on Tuesday. After a simulated game, reliever Taylor Buchholz said his elbow felt the best it has since the February injury. He could go out on a rehab assignment soon.

Catch-all.

Cards catcher Yadier Molina didn’t start after getting hit in the head with a bat, but said he did not have concussion symptoms.
