DENVER—A man the FBI says has ties to two dead people and two who remain missing has been sentenced on a federal firearms charge.
Scott Lee Kimball, 42, was sentenced Thursday to 5 years, 10 months, six months after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a weapon. He had faced a prison term of up to 10 years.
He’s already serving a 48-year sentence in Boulder County for theft and being a habitual offender. He’ll serve the new sentence after he completes that one.
Kimball, who has several felony convictions, acquired a scoped Winchester rifle in 2005.
He was also a cooperating witness for the FBI.
The FBI says he had connections to a 24-year-old woman whose body was found in Utah, and a 19-year-old whose remains were found in northwest Colorado. Both disappeared in 2003.
The FBI also linked Kimball to a 25-year-old woman who disappeared in 2003. Kimball’s 60-year-old uncle disappeared in 2004. Both are missing.
Kimball has not been charged in any of the disappearances or deaths.
