The Environmental Protection Agency has funneled more than $25 million in Recovery Act funds to Colorado’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund for use updating aging water infrastructure and protecting the environment.
More of this money is on the way.
“We are working with the state so they can develop a list of green-infrastructure projects to be funded,” said Brian Friel, the state revolving fund coordinator. “Once they have this list, we’ll get additional money, a little more than $6 million.”
The money will be spent in two general categories: wastewater treatment and non-point source pollution control, which includes things such as cleaning up abandoned mines and mitigating agricultural runoff.
