GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County health officials have confirmed the county’s first case of H1N1 swine flu.

Mesa County Health Department director Dr. Michael Aduddell says a young adult tested positive for swine flu after attending a wedding at Mesa’s Powderhorn Resort last weekend. Aduddell says some 200 guests were there, including a few from Utah who carried the virus.

The age, gender and hometown of the young adult weren’t released. It wasn’t immediately clear whether that person required hospitalization.

The World Health Organization raised its tally of confirmed swine flu cases this morning by 895 to 29,669 worldwide. At least 145 people have died.

WHO says the virus has been reported in 74 countries and is now considered a pandemic.
