A 53-year-old Ft. Collins motorcyclist died this afternoon when a van turned in front of him at Harmony Road and Snow Mesa Drive, southeast of Ft. Collins.
Police said the man died at the scene.
The investigation showed that Robert Wakefield, 83, and his passenger, Priscilla Wakefield, 82, were in a 2004 Honda Odyssey van, stopped at the traffic light in the eastbound left-turn lane. As the light turned green, Wakefield turned left onto Snow Mesa Drive and the westbound motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, drove his 2007 Harley Davidson into the passenger side of the van. The two Wakefields were treated at the scene and released.
Police haven’t faulted either driver yet, while they investigate witness reports that the motorcycle may have been speeding.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Ft. Collins police officer Boyd Sliper at (970) 221-6540.
