An elderly Denver woman continued to recover at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver today after a near-drowning in the South Platte River Saturday afternoon.
Authorities are not likely to release further information about the woman, including her name and age, because it’s not a criminal matter, said Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson.
“We’re dealing with a medical situation here,” Jackson said Sunday afternoon.
Denver firefighters pulled the woman from the fast-flowing river around 1 p.m. Saturday and revived her with CPR.
Witnesses saw the woman push a walker into the fast-flowing river near Interstate 25.
She had been under the water for several minutes by the time rescuers arrived.
Her foot became tangled on the bottom and the current was washing over her in chest-deep water, according to the Denver Fire Department.
