SILVERTHORNE, Colo.—A pedestrian bridge popular with anglers in Summit County has been closed indefinitely after engineers determined it is unsafe.

Engineers say the bridge over the Blue river in Silverthorne must be closed for repairs because of structural problems. They say heavy rains and high water pouring through Dillon Dam’s overflow drain in recent weeks may have made the problems worse.

The bridge is mainly used by trout fishermen. Local officials say a nearby vehicle-pedestrian bridge is still open for people who need to walk across the Blue River in Silverthorne.
