BOULDER, Colo.—Closing arguments are scheduled Friday after defense attorneys took one day to present their case in the trial of a man accused in the 1997 beating death of a University of Colorado student.
Thirty-nine-year-old Diego Olmos Alcalde faces murder and sexual assault charges in the death of 23-year-old Susannah Chase. Jurors Thursday heard from a man defense attorneys say is a possible suspect in Chase’s death. During testimony the man denied involvement and said police questioned him and took DNA samples.
Olmos Alcalde did not testify in his defense.
Olmos Alcalde was arrested in January 2008 after a DNA sample was entered into a national database. He gave the sample following a kidnapping conviction in Wyoming.
