A nationwide manhunt for fugitive sex offender Robbi Potter that had been focused in Colorado ended Tuesday night with the arrest of Potter and his girlfriend at a Christian retreat center in California.
Peter J. Elliott, U.S. marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, said authorities received a tip Tuesday evening that Potter, his girlfriend, Candace Watson, and Watson’s daughter, Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan, 4, were at the Morning Star Ranch in San Diego County.
“It’s one of those good moments,” Elliott said. “They often don’t end up good.”
Potter’s vehicle had last been seen June 2 at a gas station in Stratton, about 150 miles east of Denver on Interstate 70.
The deputies went to the ranch after a tipster recognized photos of Potter, Watson and Haylee on a digital billboard and dialed 911.
