GREELEY, Colo.—The Greeley Stampede’s trademark July Fourth parade won’t have TV coverage this year, but officials are still expecting a good turnout.
The 87th annual Stampede begins its 12-day run Thursday at Island Grove Regional Park.
Colorado AAA says many holiday travelers will stay close to home this year, and that makes Stampede officials optimistic about attendance.
They say that despite the rough economy, they expect plenty of walk-up spectators for the Stampede’s rodeos and concerts, providing a boost to the city’s economy.
Officials have estimated the Stampede’s economic impact at more than $50 million a year during the past few years.
