VAIL, Colo.—A toddler has died after apparently falling into Gore Creek in Vail while walking with his mother.
Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis identified the boy as 2-year-old Colin Cassidy of the Denver suburb of Edgewater. Vail officials say Sara Cassidy, the boy’s mother, lost track of her son as she was tending to her baby daughter while on a walk on a recreation path alongside the creek.
About 20 minutes after the mother called 911, a construction worker pulled the boy out from the water about a mile downstream. Two passersby tried to resuscitate him before paramedics arrived.
The boy was pronounced dead at Vail Valley Medical Center. The family was in Vail for a lacrosse tournament.
An autospy will determine the cause of death.
