The man who tried to blow up a transatlantic flight with a shoe bomb in 2001 wants his lawsuit challenging special restrictions at the federal Supermax prison in Colorado to continue, even though those restrictions are no longer in place.

Richard Reid, serving a life sentence, was placed under special administrative measures in 2003 because he was deemed a national security risk. Federal officials say the special restrictions were lifted June 17.
