NEW YORK — Retail brokerage firm TD Ameritrade Inc. agreed Monday to repurchase $456 million in auction-rate securities from investors as part of a settlement with the New York attorney general’s office and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office also said it plans to sue the brokerage Charles Schwab & Co., saying it misrepresented the safety of such securities.
