Prices dropped on 30 percent of the 1,750 homes listed for sale in Telluride last year, but half are still priced at 2007 prices, according to an analysis of multiple listing service data.
Just 111 homes sold in the first six months of 2009, according to the analysis by Telluride Properties broker George Harvey. At that rate, it would take 15 years to sell the current inventory of 1,715 homes.
“In my 25 years in real estate in Telluride, I have never seen a better time to be a buyer than now,” Harvey said. “While I see our market, unfortunately, continuing this slower pace for six to 12 more months, I do not see the buying opportunity getting any better than it is now.” Margaret Jackson, The Denver Post
