BOULDER, Colo.—A plan to chop down 27 mature trees to make way for a bike path isn’t sitting well with some Boulder residents.

Opponents persuaded city officials to redesign a section of the path to spare at least 11 trees and as many as 13. The others would still be taken out.

Under the revision, an underpass will have less clearance and the approach will have a sharper turn and a steeper incline.

The City Council accepted the revisions on Tuesday.
