Foreclosure filings rose 6.7 percent nationally in July from June but fell 4.1 percent in Colorado over the same period, according to RealtyTrac, a California provider of foreclosure listings.

The gap is even wider comparing July 2008 with July 2009. Year-over-year foreclosure filings are up 32.3 percent nationally versus a 2.1 percent gain in Colorado.

Four states — California, Florida, Arizona and Nevada — accounted for 57 percent of foreclosure activity.

Las Vegas had more than 16,700 foreclosure filings in July, or one out of every 47 properties.

Colorado, which led the nation in foreclosure filings in 2006, ranks ninth among states. The state had one foreclosure filing in July for every 388 properties.
