A woman who was attacked by her boyfriend sent a text message to a friend to get help, police said.
The incident happened Tuesday at about 10 p.m. in the Sand Creek area of Colorado Springs, according to the police department’s crime blotter.
Officers were called by the victim’s friend to do a welfare check after the friend received a text message that read: “Help Me.”
When police arrived, they found the woman who sent the message suffering from “multiple injuries.” She had been choked by her boyfriend, police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital. Details on her condition were not available.
The victim’s unidentified boyfriend was not at the scene when police arrived. He has a “history” of domestic violence, according to the blotter.
Police were looking for him early today.
