Colt & Gray, Alli and Nelson Perkins’ “farm-to-plate gastropub” at 1553 Platte St., opened last week to a nice crowd that included several of those who’d been to an earlier tasting party that the owners put on as a benefit for Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver.
Alli Perkins belongs to the Girls, Inc. Junior Alliance and when she offered the preview party as a summer fundraiser, the members were eager to support her by selling enough tickets to fill the restaurant with those who enjoy well- prepared and innovative food paired with fine wines.
Nelson Perkins, the executive chef, worked with chef de cuisineBrad Rowell and sous chefBryan Leinonen to prepare a generous assortment of small-plate treats from the lunch and dinner menus, a sampling that included house-cured duck prosciutto, roasted marrow bones, grilled quail and gravlax.
Some guests were so impressed that they made opening night reservations on the spot.
Guests at the preview included Carol Bowar, the president and chief executive officer of Girls, Inc.; Junior Alliance leaders Cissie Megyesy, May Wilson and Katie Dark; KC Lang; Terri Woellner; Annie Brooks; Karen Meyer; Cathy Gilbert; Isabel Keegan; Dee Rambeau; Hilary Adams; and Sean McNicholas.
More good stuff.
