ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—Authorities say a Jefferson County sheriff’s investigator was injured when he was dragged behind a stolen pickup, but he shot and wounded the driver.
Both remained hospitalized Thursday, a day after the confrontation in the Denver suburb of Englewood.
Authorities say the investigator, 52-year-old Art Peterson, approached the pickup driver at an intersection. The pickup drove away, dragging Peterson, who fired into the pickup at least once.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Shires says Peterson is hospitalized in serious condition but is improving.
Englewood police say the suspect is hospitalized with a serious gunshot wound, and another woman who was riding in the pickup was taken into custody. Their names weren’t released.
