Former Colorado Common Cause executive director Pete Maysmith has been tapped to lead the Colorado Conservation Voters board.
“His passion for his work, political smarts and track record of running successful nonprofits make him a great fit for CCV,” John Loewy, board chairman of the nonpartisan group, said in a statement.
Maysmith led Common Cause from 2001 to 2006 and more recently has been the founding principal of the consulting firm Confluence Strategies in Denver.
He also graduated with honors from the University of Denver College of Law in December 2008 and is licensed to practice law in Colorado.
“I am tremendously excited about the work Colorado Conservation Voters does,” Maysmith said in the organization’s announcement. “We are working on the right issues at the right time. Colorado has proven itself as a leader in the new-energy economy, but there is much more to do.
“We need to expand our use of renewable energy and protect what makes Colorado unique — our water, air and open spaces. I am excited to dig in and get to work.”
