GREELEY, Colo.—Police officers wounded a man during a confrontation at a Greeley home.
Twenty-four-year-old Justin Shane Berry was transported to a hospital early Saturday with what Greeley police describe as a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Greeley police spokesman Sgt. Joe Tymkowych says police responding to a report of shots fired found Berry on a porch. Tymkowych originally said an officer shot Berry when he fired at officers but later said Berry had pointed a shotgun at officers.
Berry retreated into a house and nearby homes were evacuated as SWAT officers responded. He was found about four hours later, bleeding in a nearby yard.
Police say Berry’s criminal record includes convictions for misdemeanors, including drunken driving, drugs and vandalism.
