LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska coach Bo Pelini is downplaying the home-field advantage 13th-ranked Virginia Tech enjoys at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.
The Hokies go into Saturday’s game against the No. 19 Cornhuskers with 31 straight wins at home against nonconference opponents. Lane Stadium is widely regarded as a tough venue for visitors.
But Pelini said after Monday’s practice that the crowd noise is “not something that affects us very much.” He said the Huskers would work with a crowd-noise simulator later in the week.
Pelini said it doesn’t matter whether the Huskers are playing at home or on the road. He says, “The fans aren’t playing. It’s 11 on 11. It’s between the lines, and you have to execute.”
The Hokies beat the Huskers 35-30 in Lincoln last year.
