Conor Casey scored his 14th goal of the season in injury time to give the Colorado Rapids a 1-1 draw with the Earthquakes in San Jose, Calif., on Friday night.

Casey scored on a penalty kick in the 95th minute to salvage a point for the Rapids, who moved into a tie for third in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference with 37 points.

Ryan Johnson scored his eighth goal of the year for San Jose, in the eighth minute.

Mondry leads state Mid-Am.

One eagle and no bogeys helped Josh Mondry of Aspen climb to the top of the leaderboard at the Colorado Golf Association’s Mid-Amateur at River Valley Ranch Golf Course in Carbondale.

Mondry, who plays out of Maroon Creek Club, shot a 67 that put him two strokes ahead of Chris Carlson, the 2004 champion from Highlands Ranch Golf Club, and Keith Humerickhouse from Glenwood Springs. Humerickhouse had an eagle during his round.

Pioneers No. 6 in preseason poll.

Golfweek.com predicts the University of Denver women’s golf team will be among the nation’s elite teams this season, just as it was last year.

The website ranked the Pioneers No. 6 in its preseason poll. DU finished fifth at the NCAA championships last season after winning its first NCAA regional and sixth consecutive Sun Belt Conference title. Defending champion Arizona State is picked to repeat, followed by Southern California, UCLA, Auburn and Wake Forest.

DU stings Yellow Jackets.

Emmy Davidsmeyer and Alexis Ninos each had 15 kills to led the Denver volleyball team to a 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-13) win over Georgia Tech at the Pioneer Classic. Jordan Raines added 14 kills, and Faimie Kingsley had 10. The Pioneers will play two ranked teams today: No. 12 Oregon at 11 a.m. and No. 9 Minnesota at 7:30 p.m.

• Outside hitter Danielle Minch had her seventh consecutive match with double-digit kills with 15 as Colorado State opened its Mountain West Conference schedule with a sweep on the road, defeating UNLV 25-20, 25-19, 25-16.

Metro upsets Skyhawks.

Aleah DeGeneres scored off a cross from Madison McQuilliams in the 103rd minute to give Metro State, ranked No. 20 in Division II, a 3-2, double-overtime soccer victory over No. 11 Fort Lewis at Auraria Field.

Metro is 3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and the Skyhawks fell to 2-1.

Becca Mays’ fifth goal of the season off a pass from Courtney Ryan gave Metro an early 1-0 lead. Fort Lewis responded with goals from Elena Benavides and Torrey Larson and led 2-1 at the half.

DeGeneres tied the score in the 82nd minute after Skyhawk goalkeeper Christine Schmelzle mishandled a crossing pass and DeGeneres chested the ball into the net. It was the first multigoal game for DeGeneres, a sophomore from Chatfield High School.

• Goalkeeper Shannon Delarosbil made six saves in the second half to keep CSU-Pueblo at bay as host New Mexico Highlands beat the Thunderwolves 2-1.

• Sophomore defender Beth Wright scored a goal and had an assist in the first 13 minutes, and Colorado College went on to a 4-0 Division I win over New Hampshire in Colorado Springs.
