KREMMLING, Colo.—Kremmling residents have been told to boil their drinking water as a precaution while the town switches over from old water lines to new ones.
Town officials said Wednesday no problems have been found with the water. They expect the boil order to be lifted after they flush the system with chlorinated water and test for bacteria.
They weren’t sure when those steps would be completed.
State health officials issued the boil order Tuesday because the water system had to be shut down to switch to the new pipelines.
Doug Moses, Kremmling’s public works director, says that without water pressure in the lines, outside water could seep in through leaks, opening the possibility of contamination.
Kremmling, a town of about 1,600, is 80 miles west of Denver.
