Getting your player ready...

There’s no truth to the rumor that Colorado Division of Real Estate head honcho Erin Toll was knocked off her scooter by rogue mortgage brokerages frustrated with her efforts to crack down on the industry.

Rather, Toll — who clearly should stay away from two-wheeled vehicles since she was wiped out by a driver who knocked her off her bicycle earlier this year — rammed into a car while riding her “super-cool, new, environmentally friendly Aprilia motor scooter” on Sept. 24.

She was heading to Cherry Creek before noon when a car abruptly changed lanes on Grant Street after crossing Sixth, then turned left onto Speer and came to a stop.

“The driver apparently decided after she turned that she wanted to be in the right lane, and because she was behind a tree, I didn’t see that she was stopped,” Toll told me in an e-mail. “So bang! I laid down the bike to avoid getting squished by the car coming up in the other left turn lane. Man, did that hurt.”

Her first thought was “No, not again.” Her second was “I’m so glad I dropped almost $500 on this Shoei helmet!”

An ambulance was roughly two cars behind her, and “some cute paramedics” took Toll to St. Joe’s.

“I was wheelchaired out after about five hours with nothing broken, just a deep contusion on my leg,” she said.

Adding insult to injury, Toll received a traffic ticket even though she said the driver of the car cut in front of her, then turned and stopped behind a tree.

No. 19’s street.

Former Avalanche star and captain Joe Sakic will be honored for his illustrious career at 9:19 this morning when Denver Public Works Traffic Engineering Services renames 19th Street in downtown Denver to Joe Sakic Way for 19 days, to pay tribute to Sakic’s jersey No. 19. The ceremony will take place at the corner of 19th and Market streets.

Meal steal.

I taste-tested brunch at Tambien, 250 Steele St., on Sunday before the (fabulous) Broncos game.

What a deal! For $10, you get all-you- can-eat authentic Mexican fare, including chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, agua fresca, pan dulces, fruit, scrambled eggs with chorizo, etc. For $20, throw in all- you-can-drink mimosas or bloody Marys. Que bueno!Clear year.

Since I’m asked often about my health, I want to share with all of you dear readers that the MRI and mammogram I had Tuesday were clear. I’m still cancer-free, so yippee!

The seen.

Brook’s Steak House catered lunch last week for 100 hungry Denver Broncos and staff, who dined on 400 jumbo shrimp, 120 16-ounce prime New York steaks, 40 double-cut pork chops, 20 fresh halibut fillets, 10 gallons of creamed corn, 100 pounds of garlic mashed potatoes, 50 pounds of sugar snap peas and 240 pieces of New York cheesecakes and carrot cakes.

On Sunday, Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman and five other Brewers pitchers dined on Brook’s surf and turf along with primo vino.

B-52s band member Kate Pierson shopped at women’s clothing boutique Mariel on Larimer Square on Monday.

Eavesdropping.

Two women at Tam bien:

“I’ve only dated losers.”

“At least you just dated them. I married them.”
