A 22-year-old Weld County woman faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly neglecting her horses to the point of starvation.
Alexis Williamson was arrested on the felony charges Tuesday after authorities investigated a report of animal neglect at her home in Wellington.
One starving horse was euthanized by a friend of Williamson’s before deputies arrived, and two more were severely emaciated, but removed from the property for care, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Williamson had been responsible for the horses since her father moved out of state last year, authorities aid.
She is free on $5,000 bond.
