GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Grand Junction police officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman while he was off duty.
Authorities said 35-year-old Glenn Coyne was arrested Thursday and faces charges of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree burglary. He was being held in Mesa County jail Friday on $250,000 bond.
Police Chief John Camper said Coyne is accused of assaulting a woman who called him for follow-up help after Coyne and other officers went to her house to assist on an unspecified family matter.
The alleged assault took place at about 1 a.m. Tuesday after Coyne’s shift ended.
Camper said Coyne has been fireed after two years with the department. Coyne was already on probation after an investigation into a separate, off-duty incident involving another woman in December.
Police officials said there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue criminal charges, but concluded that Coyne committed several department violations.
