BOULDER, Colo.—A Longmont man asked for and got a life prison sentence for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy.

Frank Gutierrez asked Boulder District Judge Maria Berkenkotter on Friday to impose the maximum sentence, saying he himself was abused as a boy and that he cannot be cured of his sexual pathologies.

The judge imposed the maximum sentence and a lifetime of intensively supervised probation if Gutierrez ever is released from prison. The 64-year-old Gutierrez won’t be eligible for parole for 24 years.

The boy, now 11, testified via videotape that his life had been ruined by the assaults by his neighbor at his Longmont apartment two years ago.
