Boulder police are investigating an early Saturday stabbing that landed a 20-year-old University of Colorado student in Boulder Community Hospital, the Daily Camera reports.

An Illinois man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer after he became belligerent with officers who went to the victim’s apartment to investigate, police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley told the Camera. As of Saturday evening, no one had been arrested for the stabbing.

Emergency room staff called Boulder police about 3 a.m. to tell them they were treating a stabbing victim, Huntley said.

When officers arrived at the victim’s apartment, they found two men inside. One of the men, Leo Beitz, 19, of Illinois, became belligerent with officers and assaulted one of them, Huntley said. Police used a Taser to control Beitz, and he was taken to Boulder County jail, where he faces charges of obstruction and third-degree assault on a peace officer.
