Zukerman steps down at Vail Valley music fest
Eugenia Zukerman, pictured above, artistic director of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival since 1998, will leave the organization following the summer classical series’ 2010 season, the festival announced last week.
“I’m very proud of the work our great team has accomplished,” Zukerman said in a prepared statement. “The results of these wonderful years speak for themselves, and I feel this is the right time for me to move on.”
Neither Zukerman or anyone in the festival’s leadership was available for comment.
During Zukerman’s tenure, the festival secured residencies by the New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra and more than doubled its total attendance.
A search committee has been formed, festival spokeswoman Rachel Packer said, and the festival hopes to appoint Zukerman’s replacement by next summer.
