A 20-year-old Denver man was charged Wednesday with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shaking his 8-week-old son in their Lincoln Street home Sept. 15.

When emergency services responded to the 200 block of Lincoln Street, Dailey’s infant son, Stephen, was not breathing.

The boy has been at Denver Health Medical Center since the incident and was on life support at the time the affidavit was filed Friday.

The baby’s mother told detectives she left her son with his father to go shopping at about 4:30 p.m. The affidavit said Dailey called her at 4:50 p.m. to tell her their son was injured.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey also charged Dailey with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and a crime of violence. Dailey is being held in the Denver County Jail with bail set at $150,000. He is to appear in court for a second advisement of charges at 9 a.m. Friday.
