1. Will CSU fix its kickoff coverage woes? TCU ranks sixth nationally with an average of 28.8 yards a return, thanks mainly to Jeremy Kerley. It’s a phase of the game at which CSU has struggled but is determined to fix. Given TCU’s history of keeping the Rams out of the end zone, CSU will be fortunate to kick off more than one or twice. It can’t afford a big return.

2. Can the Rams mount a strong rushing game against the Mountain West’s top rushing defense? Leonard Mason is coming into his own as CSU’s lead running back. TCU, meanwhile, is ninth nationally against the run, allowing 83.4 yards a game. Last year, MWC rushing champ Gartrell Johnson had one of his worst career outings with only 30 yards on 16 carries against TCU. CSU must establish something on the ground or it could be a long day.

3. Can the Rams at least neutralize TCU All-America defensive end Jerry Hughes? CSU has its best offensive line in years. They certainly know all about Hughes, TCU’s top player. The Frogs have enough weapons on defense that no opponent can double-team Hughes all the time, however. Utah pressured Grant Stucker early last week, but the Rams made adjustments. They’ll need to do the same against Hughes.
